What is the trevor project?

The Trevor Project is a nonprofit organization that focuses on suicide prevention and crisis intervention for LGBTQ+ youth. It was founded in 1998 by creators of the Academy Award-winning short film “Trevor,” which tells the story of a gay teenager who attempts suicide after being rejected by his friends because of his sexuality.

The Trevor Project operates a toll-free 24/7 helpline, TrevorLifeline, for LGBTQ+ youth in crisis to speak with trained counselors who provide support and resources. They also offer TrevorChat, a confidential online messaging service, and TrevorText, a text-based support service.

In addition to crisis intervention, the Trevor Project also provides resources and educational materials for LGBTQ+ youth and allies, including trainings and workshops for adults who work with youth to help them create safe and supportive environments.

Overall, the Trevor Project aims to promote mental health and well-being for LGBTQ+ youth and reduce the risk of suicide among this population.
